AdBlue doesn't function like engine oil or lubricant; it doesn't come into contact with the internal workings of the machine at all. It's only sprayed into the exhaust system, so you can rest assured that the exhaust gas treatment solution won't affect the machine's lifespan.
How does AdBlue solution work?
With its main components being 32.5% high-purity urea, 67.1% purified water, and the remainder being other additives, AdBlue, when sprayed into exhaust gases, causes the high-temperature exhaust gas to evaporate, breaking down the urea into ammonia and isocyanic acid. The isocyanic acid then hydrolyzes into carbon dioxide and ammonia. The ammonia then combines with oxygen from the environment, reducing the amount of nitrogen released into the atmosphere. Simply put, this process involves AdBlue converting NOx gas into nitrogen (N2) and water vapor via an SCR (Sensor-Controlled Reactor) to NOx gas.
The chemical equation is as follows:
– (NH2)2CO -> NH3 + HNCO
– HNCO + H2O -> CO2 + NH3
– 2NO + 2NH3 + 1/2O2 -> 2N2 + 3H2O và 3NO2 + 4NH3 + 3O2 -> 7/2N2 + 6H2O

What materials is AdBlue made from?
As mentioned above, the main components of AdBlue are urea and distilled water, but the urea used in AdBlue is a high-purity urea with low biuret content, which helps prevent corrosion of the SCR system.

Euro 5 standards for engine types
According to Decision No. 49/2011/QD-TTg dated September 1, 2011, of the Prime Minister, the roadmap for applying emission standards for automobiles and motorcycles follows Decision No. 49/2011/QD-TTg dated September 1, 2011, of the Prime Minister. Accordingly, from January 1, 2018, the emission standard must be raised to level 4 for automobiles put into use after January 1, 2018, and most recently, to Euro 5 standard for vehicles manufactured and assembled after December 31, 2021.
